Your First Lesson

To schedule, fill out the form on my “Lessons” page to be connected to my assistant, Nicolete.

She will guide you through the process via text message, but here are a few notes from me so you know what you’re in for-

You’ll be training in a group at The Softball Performance Workshop (4900 E La Palma Ave, Anaheim, CA 92807). Groups are anywhere from 4 to 10 girls for the hour.

The facility is behind Anaheim Door Company. Drive all the way to the second brick building (you'll see signage for Softball Performance Workshop on the left). Parking is also available around the back of that building.

When you walk in for the first time, make sure you fill out the facility waiver (available at the front desk) and sign in indicating you’re seeing “Morgan for Defense.”

You will meet me or one of my instructors on the turf at the start of your lesson time. Remember, only players are allowed on the turf. Parents dropping off: Please do not walk with them out to me.

My lessons are back-to-back, so if I am still busy with the last hour, your daughter can come on out with the next group (if you have questions for me- I will meet you on the parent-side of the net).

We always start with a warm up of Wall Ball. Girls, set your gloves and waters by the net and hop in the line.

Important Notes:

  • No parents or colored drinks are allowed on the turf
  • All you will need is your glove, tennis shoes, & water
  • Pants or shorts are OK, but most girls like wearing pants since we do a lot on our knees during the workout on the turf.

Payment is due when scheduling your lesson. Your first lesson is $45 for the hour (PayPal or card).

My regular lesson prices are $50/hour for every other week (2x/month) and $40/hour for every week (4x/month). For regular payment, girls pay with cash or card after each lesson is complete.

If you like lessons, but can’t commit to being a “regular,” each lesson will be $50.

There is no pressure to commit to lessons on the first day you come. I will evaluate how you do in the group and Nicolete will be in contact later in the week to follow up.

Contact Nicolete for further questions (Text: 626-419-2562). See you soon!

  • Love that there is so much more like this to come for @defenseclub. Thanks @justtrain, @nomatterthegame, & @rmtshoots for capturing the message behind the intent.

Check out the podcast around minute 5 for when we break down Defense Club and talk about why some athletes take failure so hard.
Have you already listened?
Have you fallen into the habit of identifying with your failure?

  • When we hear words like depression and anxiety, automatically we move into a “mental health” space instead of a “mental game” space.⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
Some are hesitant to talk through these topics because we don’t want to be associated with the negative thoughts, weakness, or hardship that goes with not being 100% mentally well.⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
Here’s where I think talking about what’s going on inside can help:⁣⁣⠀
Getting to this place where we are severely affected by our performance or by failure can be rooted in expectations of ourselves and of reality- and those ARE part of our mental game.
⁣⁣⠀
Bringing it all together so we can see the full spectrum of mental resiliency- THAT is developing your inner armor. Informed in all aspects and ready for anything.⁣⁣⠀
⁣⁣⠀
I got to sit with @justtrain for an episode of his podcast, @nomatterthegame and talk about some of the most influential parts of my athletic career- they weren’t always my wins. I learned most from coming back with perspective.⁣⁣⠀

  • Growth is so good. <One of my favorites from 2017>
The eyes never lie. | No matter what people put off on their exterior- there is always more to their story. Always.
.
It wasn't until long after college that I realized that there is strength in vulnerability. There's strength in letting the pain show a little. If only to encourage others that it will all get sorted out in the end.
.
I realized that holding it in was pushing people away- the people I loved the most. I realized that staying silent was shrinking me instead of growing me. I realized that if I had let my people in sooner, I wouldn't have hurt for so long.
.
I had to learn on my own. But I wish I wasn't so stubborn.
.
So go through it. Feel it. And then come out on the other side. I know you'll make it.
.
I hope you gain perspective sooner than I did. I hope you use this. I hope you use me. You're not alone. You don't have to be.

  • Fine fine...the Traverse City crew recorded the longest plank of the day, but still so happy with our event in Harrisburg with these Roster Girls.
So impressed by the energy given my players and coaches. This is why we travel to 50+ cities per year- because the return on our time away from home means so much to these girls and the sport. .
You keep showing up fired up and ready to learn, and we will keep getting on ✈️ ‘s.

Winter 18-19 complete.

  • This is an example of a moment that happens in every one of our @thepackageddeal camps:
A real lesson, one that these girls will remember forever, that is explained in a thoughtful but powerful way.
.
@jen_schro is really the best at giving these movements the light they deserve quickly and effectively AND at taming the controlled chaos that is growing up in sport.
.
As we fly to separate states to do our last stop of the winter season with TWO awesome Roster teams, I just need to recognize Jen for picking up my slack as I launched @defenseclub.
.
.
Here’s some advice: Want to do amazing things in this life? Find yourself teammates that compliment your strengths. Learn how to ask for help. And tell people they have done a good job when they’ve earned that.
